CLARKSVILLE - The team of brothers’ Tyler and John Howerton won the 2019 Kinderton Country Club Member-Guest Tournament last weekend on the first hole of a sudden death a playoff over runner-ups Charles Wagstaff and guest, Tim Salley last weekend at KCC.
The two two-man teams were tied with a gross score of 128 after 36 holes of play at the Kinderton layout. Older brother, Tyler was the whole show on the first playoff hole with a long straight tee shot down the middle of the fairway, a second shot to the middle of the green to about 12 feet from the hole and a true putt into the center of the cup. Wagstaff and Salley had some trouble getting the ball close to the cup on the green and then missed their birdie putts.
The Howerton brothers had matched the long drives of their opponents with some very all around crisp play in the 18 holes of Sunday’s play.
It ended a very good year for the elder Howerton as he teamed with another club member to win the Member-Member
tournament back on May 4th and 5th, The Senior club championship on August 3 and 4 and the Member-Guest tournament last weekend.
The younger Howerton brother had a very successful playing career at Kinder- ton before moving to Charlottesville several years ago.
Thirty-five two man teams participated in the two-day tournaments that had four flights with three teams winning in each flight.
