CLARKSVILLE - The Bluestone Middle School Trojans opened the 2019 season with a new coach at Kinderton Country Club last Wednesday with a non-district match against the Halifax County Lions.
The Trojans, with veteran high school David Allgood coach, at the helm, fell to the Lions by 23 points, 171-194, but Allgood said that he was impressed with the effort as the young Trojans finished third last year, Allgood noted that they had never scored less than 200 points before in a nine hone match.
He was the coach at the Senior High for 13 years and although he could not remember his record right off the top of his head, he always had a winning record and his team was no lower than second or third any year.
Allgood said, "Going into the match was to get experience for the team before their first conference match and try to get them to achieve a team score of less than two hundred points. Even though we loss, both goals were accomplish."
The team is lead by captains Cameron Shriver and Taylor Seamans, who lead the teams with scores of 45.
Jackson Allgood, son of Coach Allgood and playing in his first school match shot a 48. Second year player Davis Bowen had the fourth low score with a 56.
First year players Ayden Brogden and Emily Morrison completed the scoring with 59s.
J.D. Cunningham of Halifax was medallist for the match with a 38. C.J. McGraw followed with a 40. Jack Morgan was third with a 46. Graddy Upchurch finished fourth with a 47.
Alex Payne and Peyton Murry completed the scoring with 49 and 54.
The Trojans will open conference play this Wednesday at Kinderton Country Club against Park View.
