SKIPWITH - The Bluestone Middle School girl’s soccer team opened the 2019 season with an 8-0 win over the visiting Martinsville MS school last Thursday, March 7 at Bluestone.

Brianna Wells got the score started for the Lady Trojans with a goal in the 6th minute of the game. Wells scored again in the 10th minute on a penalty kick awarded to Bluestone.

Less than two minutes later, Katlyn Abernathy scored for the home team making the score 3-0.

Abernathy found the back of the net again in the 16th minute off an assist from Elena Bailey.

Wells scored her third of the game at the 21st minute giving her a “hat trick” in the match. Bailey was credit with her second assist.

Bluestone led 5-0 at halftime.

Abernathy contributed another goal for the team at the 34th minute-earning a “hat trick”.

Grace Castle’s long shot from outside upped the score to 7-0.

Bluestone’s final goal of the match came from Bailey in the 48th minute.

The game was then halted due to the “slaughter rule”.

Bluestone’s defense played a strong game, allowing one shot on goal by the visitors.
