A New York man landed in a Virginia jail this week after allegedly stealing a car in North Carolina.

On Friday at approximately ten minutes past midnight, Deputy Justin Burch was on patrol on I-85 when he observed a vehicle driving much slower than the posted speed limit. A license check on the vehicle turned up a report that the vehicle had been reported stolen from North Carolina.

Deputy Burch conducted a stop of the vehicle and the driver was identified as Elhadji Yock, 21, of the Bronx, New York. Yock was arrested on charges of grand larceny of a vehicle and was transported before a magistrate where he was served and placed under a $10,000 secured bond and remanded to the Roanoke River Regional Jail.

On Thursday, Deputy Levy Thompson was dispatched to a residence in the 2100 block of Henrico Road in the Buffalo Junction area for a call of a fight in prog-

ress. Deputy Thompson investigated and following his investigation arrested Justin Terry of Buffalo Junction for charges of domestic assault. A restraining order was also obtained and served and Terry was later released on an unsecured bond.

On Thursday, Corporal Mark Thomas received a call of a possible subject driving under the influence in the 300 block of North Bend road as well as a description of the vehicle.

Corporal Thomas met the driver on Route 4 and began to follow. The driving, he noted, was “erratic”

Corporal Thomas pulled the vehicle, spoke with the driver and detected the smell of alcohol on the person.

After administrating field sobriety tests the driver, Miles Brooking, 58, of Henrico County, was arrested for DUI where a warrant for DUI was obtained. Brooking was remanded to jail under a secured bond of $2,000.
