A Chase City man has been arrested and charged with the robbery of the Roses Express Store in Chase City last week. Anthony Lee Wood, 44, is currently in custody at the Meherrin River Regional Jail where he is being held without bond pending a preliminary court appearance scheduled for December 9.
According to reports, Wood entered the Roses Express on East Second Street at approximately 7:24 P.M. and made a purchase. When the clerk opened the register Wood allegedly reached into the register and took an undisclosed amount of cash. The subject then fled the store and left the scene on a bicycle.
Wood was taken into custody shortly after the robbery.
Wood is also a suspect in a similar robbery in Charlotte County the previous day.
The investigating officer in the case was Investigator A.M. Jordan.
Chase City Police Chief J. A. Jordan commended his officers for their quick response and apprehension of the suspect. Chief Jordan also thanked me Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the case.
