Damian James Ashworth was indicted last week on charges of second degree murder in relation to the July 17, shooting death of Anthony Raekwon Roberts in Clarksville.
The name of Ashworth had been withheld due to the fact that at the time of the shooting, he was still a juvenile. Ashworth will be tried on the charge as an adult and could face a sentence as low as five years or as high as 40 years if found guilty. Ashworth could also face a fine of up to $100,000.
Also arrested in the case was Hayleigh Hylton, 20, of Brodnax. Hylton is charged as an accessory after homicide. If found guilty, Hylton could face of sentence of up to five years in prison on the charge.
Roberts, 19 at the time of the shooting, had been visiting family members in Clarksville and was said the have left his grandmother’s home only moments before he was shot.
Possible motives for the shooting remain unknown.
