The 12th annual Clarksville community Thanksgiving took place on Wednesday, November 27 at the Clarksville Community Center and it was once again a big success. Over 20 local churches assisted the Clarksville Ruritans, along with VETS, INC., made the evening one to remember. An estimated 900 dinners were served to members of the community. Many of the citizens that showed up to the community center came with non-perishable food items for the local food pantry. There were also volunteers that delivered meals to the homebound residents. The Ruritans and VETS, INC. provide much of the financial assistance for this event. The local churches in the community also help cover costs, as well as help prepare and serve the delicious Thanksgiving meal. In the 12th year of the event, this event is a staple in Clarksville and throughout Mecklenburg County. It is a chance for residents to come together for food and fellowship and to also have a relaxing evening with friends and neighbors the night before Thanksgiving.
